The case of provoked vulvodynia treated with injections of botulinum toxin A

Abstract

Vulvodynia, as the main cause of female pelvic pain, already many years ago became the target ofinterest of many specialties, not only gynecologists. It resulted in rise of awareness of this disease among thedoctors and the patients as well. However, there remains still a lot of questions, concerning the pathogenesisof vulvodynia, despite the general consensus about fist the nocyceptive and later the neuropathic origin of thispain. Problem with management of vulvodynia also looks similarly: the abundance of available therapies revealsthe lack of one, golden standard of treatment. This article presents a new (on the domestic ground) treatmentoption of provoked local vulvodynia, on the case of women, treated with repetitive injections of botulinum toxin A inmonotherapy, which effectiveness was controlled with results of Tampon Test
