THE CHRISTIAN PARADIGM IN «ST. NINO’S LIFE» (MTSKHETA AND JERUSALEM, GARDEN AND PARADISE)

Abstract
The article deals with the symbolic references from "Saint Nino's Life", as well as the historical facts or events. Generally, any hagiographic work is distinguished by a number of symbols. However, "Saint Nino's Life" is a rare example of symbol abundance. Not only the fictitious names but also the historical events are filled with symbols. Even St. Nino herself represents a character shrouded in mystery. The symbolism does not deny the fact of historicity. The historical facts are symbolic themselves. For instance, St. Ninos’s Cappadocian origin is symbolic, as well her arrival to Kartli from Jerusalem, the recognition of Kartli as the northern country. Such Nino’s epithets as “captive”, “queen” and many other details are also symbolic.
