THE CONCEPT AND CHARACTERISTICS OF FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMINATION

Abstract

The author reveals the essence and significance of forensic psychological examination (FPE) in criminal proceedings. It determined that the FPE is subject to the study of mental activity, which is particularly important to establish the truth in the court paperwork. It outlines the main features of the concept of judicial review. The author draws attention to the fact that the law provides for the mandatory appointment of examination cases. The practice of FPE recommends that, despite the common ground for all kinds of forensic examinations, briefly outline some specific aspects of proper forensic psychological examination. Let us consider the main issues that may put to this type of FPE. Knowledge of the methodological principles of forensic psychological examination, understanding the specifics of an expert psycho-diagnostic research enables the psychologist to adequately use the entire methodical arsenal of diagnostic activities. With regard to the specific of the subject can be simultaneously carried out several kinds of subject expertise: for example, the accused often combined expertise of individual psychological characteristics and affect; in respect of a victim in the case of rape – examination of the helpless state and ability to testify. In some cases, the investigation and the court may not be interested in the ability of a witness or victim and the accused (defendant) to correctly perceive the circumstances relevant to the case and to give accurate testimony about them. But there may be more complicated combinations of species subject of forensic psychological examination.
