The concept of Islamic Culture in Terms of Quality and Evaluation

Abstract

Culture is a concept that originated in the Western philosphical tradition. There is no agreement on its exact definition in spite of discussions about its meaning for a long time. It can be described as the structure of values and beliefs created by the human societies in the historical process. Religion is another phenomenon. It is an institution consisting of beliefs and rituals revealed and decreed by God. As for the concept of Islamic Culture, though there are various definitions of it, it can be summarised as follows: It is the sum of all religious, philosophical, linguistical, scientific knowledge which developed in the Islamic countries as an outcome of the interaction with other cultures in the historical process. Religion and culture are two different categories. In this article dealing with culture and religion, the relationship between religion and culture, the methological tools to follow in the analysis of culture will be examined.
