The condition and prospects of the cooperation between Ukraine and the Visegrad Group countries in an energy sector

Abstract

The article highlights the current state of Ukraine’s relations with the Visegrad Four countries in an energy sector. It is indicated the meaning of Russian energy sources for Ukraine and the Visegrad Group countries. The attention is focused on possibilities of a construction of new pipelines, a reverse of gas to Ukraine. It is emphasized the importance of creating a regional gas market. It is explained the cooperation in a gas sphere between Ukraine and the Visegrad Group countries at the bilateral level. Ukrainian-Slovak bilateral relations have especially important meaning in this direction. It is accentuated on the significance of joint projects in the nuclear industry. It is indicated on the export of Ukrainian electricity to the Visegrad Group countries. It is emphasized that in the XX-XXI century oil has become a method of realization of national interests. It is indicated that important for Ukraine is to participate in the Euro-Asian oil transportation corridor. It is formulated priorities, outlined perspective directions, proposed ways for optimization of future cooperation. Ensuring energy security in the region of Central and Eastern Europe would become a united factor in relations between Ukraine and the Visegrad Group countries. One of the key points in this direction is the diversification of sources and routes of energy supply.
