The Course of Love in Nigarnâmah

Abstract

Nigarnâmah is one of the works of Mir Hamza Nigârî who is a Nakshî-Hâlidî Sheik. This work is related to love and in this work a transition period from a humanly love starting through a dream to divine love is told from the sufi perspective. From this aspect, it is possible to trace the sayr wa suluk understanding of love and ectasy tradition. In this study, this work is analyzed from a holistic perspective and Hamza Nigârî’s understanding of love is discussed. Also the transition period from a humanly love to divine love and the phases of obtaining sayr wa suluk positions through love are investigated.
