The Death Penalty in the Indonesian Criminal Justice System in the Midst of Global Challenges

Abstract
This article analyses the death penalty in the Indonesian judicial system amid the challenges of globalisation. The purpose of this article is to find out how the death penalty reform in the justice system in Indonesia amid the challenges of globalisation. This research uses the normative research method. The result of this research is that the new criminal code reflects the quality of the Indonesian nation. There is a need for new regulations to discipline and regulate law enforcement officials in carrying out their duties. Legal culture, it is necessary to socialize the common people about the nature and essence of law as well as the mechanism of law to be carried out in order to realize an interactive justice and responsiveness of law enforcers with the community.
