THE DISCOUNT RATE AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR BALANCING THE OBJECTIVES OF THE NBU MONETARY POLICY

Abstract
The article considers the main approaches to the application of the discount rate as instrument of the central bank’s monetary regimes. The analysis of conceptual representations reflecting the opposite views of scientists on the formulation of monetary policy guidelines and the principles of using interest-based instruments: inflation targeting and nominal GDP targeting.
