The Effect of Climate Change on the Way of Investing in Modern Irrigation Systems

Journal Title: Journal of Drought and Climate change Research (JDCR) - Year 2024, Vol 2, Issue 7

Abstract

In recent years, crises caused by natural events in the world have increased dramatically. The various effects of climate change on different sectors of production, environment and human societies have caused it to be mentioned as one of the most important environmental challenges of the 20th century. Climate change has a wide impact on how to invest in modern irrigation systems. With the increasing intensity and repetition of droughts and changing rainfall patterns, traditional irrigation methods become less reliable and more modern and intelligent systems to manage water resources is necessity. Investments are being driven into new technologies such as drip irrigation and automated irrigation systems that use sensors and data analysis to optimize irrigation timing. These technologies not only reduce water consumption but also increase productivity and reduce operating costs. In addition, the use of renewable energy sources such as solar irrigation systems is also expanding. These systems are a sustainable and cost-effective option for water management, especially in areas with no reliable access to electricity. Other innovative methods include the use of recycled water and alternative water sources for irrigation, which reduce the pressure on water resources due to the lack of fresh water. However, careful management is necessary to avoid environmental and health hazards. Also, there is more emphasis on policy frameworks and financial incentives to promote the adoption of modern irrigation systems. Investments are focused not only on infrastructure but also on empowering and developing supporting institutions to effectively implement and maintain these technologies.
