The effect of irrigation period on some morphological characteristics of two cultivars of olive twig (Dezfuli and Koroniki)
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 6
Abstract
In order to selecting the cultivars of species resistant to drought and for developing the cultivation in dry and semi-dry areas in Iran, the impact of irrigation period on morphological reactions of two cultivars of olive (Dezfuli and Koroniki) in an factorial design in block framework was randomly investigated. The used irrigation periods were 2, 5, 10, 15 and days. According to the obtained results, the wet and dried weight of the stock and the dried weight of the root of both cultivars in comparison to the control group decreased. The Koroniki cultivar had more peripheral branches, more lengthy branches, leaves, leaf level and the dried stock weight in comparison to Dezfuli cultivar. Based on the obtained results, Dezfoli cultivar was more resistant to dryness.
