The effect of story books on first language acquisition, between the children of age level 3-4

Abstract

The words have the power to shape our thoughts, feeling, beliefs, practices and our relations. And have stronger impact when they are put together in a coherent way, such as stories. Stories teach us, and to help us to make meaning of our experience of the world. One of the main ways of transferring experience is storytelling and listening to stories. Stories have a great impact on the Child’s mind flourishing too. Reading is an important tool for language acquisition. New researches show that circular area of toddler lexical is more dependent on conversation about a meaningful subject that he/she hears. Thus, story books as a tool for first language acquisition can help to make it easier and faster for toddler. Hence, this research tries to prove that children acquire new words from story books and use them in their social interactions. To provide this subject in this research, four books were randomly selected and read for four 3-4 years old girls, during the reading, questions and playing were performed too, with a focus on new terminology. After four months of investigation and data collection by recording and note the conversations, the result of this study showed that children acquire new words from story books and they use them properly in their social interactions.
