The effectiveness of technical analysis in the process of investment decision making

Abstract
Technical analysis helps investors in making investment decisions on the basis of historical exchanges presented on the chart. Analysts use technical analysis tools in order to predict an opportune moment of a purchase or a sale of a financial instrument. Technical analysis tools include price formations, which signal a moment when a trend change can happen. The aim of the article is to reveal the effectiveness of signals, which provide the technical analysis tools, such as price formations. Experiential research performed an analysis of the formation of double bottom and double peak, which were shaped on the stock index chart WIG20 from the beginning of the year 2000 until the end of the first quarter of 2015. The analysis was conducted in three time horizons.
