THE EFFECTS OF THE INTERNET USAGE ON TRANSFORMATION OF SOCIAL RELATIONS

Abstract
Our epoch is defined as a new era (post-industrial or information age) in which information is increasingly important. The most important component of this age is undoubtedly constantly developing communication technologies especially the Internet. The Internet that is separated from other communication technologies by its own characteristics has become effective in every area of life. The Internet as a new social space where there is no real physical proximity has also affected traditional forms of social relationships. It has revealed o new form of social relationship called virtual. In this context this paper aims to question the potential of virtual relationships to transform traditional social relations. In the study in which quantitative research method is adopted, the university students were handled and a structured questionnaire was used as data collection tool.
