THE EFFECTS OF TRADITONAL PRODUCTION PROCESSES ON THE RURAL HOUSES CASE STUDY: KIZILCABÖLÜK

Abstract
Our social structure and accordingly traditional way of life is transformed under rapid urbanization and population growth. As a result of this transformation, rural housing tradition which is an important part of our cultural heritage, has confronted with the danger of disappear. Sustainability of these unique buildings which represents the socio-cultural structure, way of living, and architectural character, would ensure the sustainability of functionality in architecture and pass on regional diversity and cultural heritage to future generations. In this context, this paper studies the traditional housing typology in a small town of Denizli, Kizilcabölük; a typology formed under the influence of the most important elements of regional rural life, the weaving looms. The houses, documented by drawings and photographs, examined in terms of construction technique, material and spatial organization.
