THE EMPRICAL RESEARCH TOWARDS IMPACT ON JOB SATISFACTION OF ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of organizational commitment on job satisfaction. The research involves the employees (N = 450) of a company that provides electrical - electronics and telecommunication services in the centers of three provinces (Sivas, Yozgat and Muğla). Data of the study were collected by personal information form and the Minnesota Job Satisfaction Questionnaire together with Organizational Commitment Questionnaire developed by Allen and Meyyer (1991). Between the normative commitment and internal (0.43), and external (0.42) satisfaction was found the highest correlation. The effect of the extent of organizational commitment on job satisfaction was found to be significant. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the effect of the extent of organizational commitment on job satisfaction, were found significant (P<0.001). Normative commitment is the most important independent variable which affects job satisfaction, and there is a positive and significant relation between these two variables (ß = 0.71, P<0.001). The extent of continuance commitment affects negatively the job satisfaction (ß = 0.39, P< 0.05). Finally, the effect of emotional commitment on job satisfaction has not found to be significant (ß = 0.37, P>0.05).
