The enhancement of growth parameters in common carp (Cyprinus carpio) larvae using probiotic in rearing tanks and feeding by various Artemia naupli
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 4
Abstract
In probiotic trials the blend of Bacillus circulans and Bacillus licheniformis were added in rearing tanks of common carp at a concentration of 1×10[sup]3[/sup]CFU mL[sup]-1[/sup]. Artemia urmiana (Gunther, 1899),Artemia franciscana and Artemia parthenogenetica nauplii were administered as live food to common carp larvae. Within treatments, final body weight (FBW), specific growth rate (SGR), thermal growth coefficient (TGC), daily growth coefficient (DGC), relative gain rate (RGR) were affected by probiotic bacillus (P<0.05). These growth and feeding parameters of protein efficiency ratio (PER), lipid efficiency ratio (LER) and energy efficiency ratio (EER) significantly increased in treatment of G.P-bacteria and G.Fbacteria where the common carp larvae fed on with A. franciscana and A. parthenogenetica. The highest growth and feeding parameters were obtained in treatment of G.P-bacteria while in treatment of G.Ubacteria were significantly (P<0.05) lower than other treatments. The best feeding performance of common carp larvae was obtained by feeding of A. parthenogenetica nauplii in trial of probiotic (G.Pbacteria).

Use of 17-α-methyltestosterone for production of male secondary sexual characteristics in the adult female green swordtail (Xiphophorus hellerii).
The green swordtail X. hellerii Heckel, 1848 is a commercially important ornamental species. As phenotypic males with the sword extension of the caudal fin are more valuable economically than fish lacking the sword, masc...
Partial sequence of the genomic DNA from a Philippine isolate of the Penaeus monodon-type baculovirus (MBV) and comparison with other geographical isolate
Partial genomic DNA sequences of a Philippine isolate of the Penaeus monodon-type baculovirus (MBV) was identified. The two partial sequences of the MBV genomic DNA from the Philippines showed 100% homology at...
Receiver-bias implicated in the nonsexual origin of female mate choice in the pentamorphic fish Poecilia parae Eigenmann, 1894
Receiver-bias hypotheses of signal evolution posit that male sexually selected traits evolve via prior selection for other functions. We found support for the hypothesis that the origin of female choice of mates is a lin...
The distribution of crayfish (Decapoda: Astacidae, Cambaridae) population in Cris and Mures rivers crossing the Romanian-Hungarian border
The crayfish (Decapoda) fauna of the Mures/Maros, Crisul Repede/Sebes-Körös, Crisul Negru/Fekete-Körös and Crisul Alb/Fehér-Körös rivers was surveyed in 16 sampling areas in 2012. The crayfish assemblages of the sampling...
The effects of probiotic bacillus for promotion of growth and feeding parameters in beluga (Huso huso) larvae via feeding by bioencapsulated Artemia.
In this study five species of probiotic bacillus as bacterial blend under the commercial title of Protexin aquatic were used for bioencapsulation of Artemia urmiana (Gunther, 1899). This experiment was conducted in a com...
