THE «ESCAMBO» AS INITIAL FORMA OF PORTUGAL’S COLONIAL ECONOMIC EXPANSION ON THE TERRITORY OF BRAZIL DURING THE FIRST THIRD OF THE XVI CENTURY

Abstract
Summary In the article we discovered the contents of initial forma of Portugal’s colonial economic expansion on the territory of Brazil during the first third of the XVI century – «escambo». We indicated that this forma of economical relationship presented a reward payment by the portugueses for the natives. This reward payment was realized by means of exchange of the metallic and glass artifacts on the manual labour of the indians with aim of receiving valuable breed of red sandalwood pau-brazil, other goods and provisions. We found out that in this conditions slavery of the indians didn’t existed. We compared portuguese and french tactics of the warehousing and commercial transportation of wood pau-brazil from Brazil towards Europe. We have covered a mission of the merchant and vessel owner Fernao de Loronha in the context of receiving by him the first royal concession on exclusive export of wood pau-brazil from Brazil.
