THE ESSENCE AND NEED TO MOVE TOWARDS SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abstract
In the article has been investigated the essence of sustainable economic development, which, in contrast to the concept of sustainable economic growth, does not provide stimulation of public demand, but suggests a transition to a moderate, sensible consumption, rational usage of natural resources with the expectation of decreasing their expenditures and reducing the negative impact of production environment. There was established that the basis of the model of sustainable economic development is the innovation activity. The necessity for a coordinated international and national policy on the formation of industrial structures, that will ensure reduction of risks and meet the basic needs of the poor, would increase the level of consciousness, overcoming of human greed, dissipation and selfishness was grounded. Also there has been argued that with the help of lifestyle changes possible to achieve such economic development, which would be less dependent on limited resources of the planet and more consistent with its potential benefits.
