The Ethical Approach to Inequality Conceived in Accordance with F. Stewart’s Classification and Economic Effectiveness
Journal Title: Studies in Global Ethics and Global Education - Year 2015, Vol 4, Issue
Abstract
In subject literature, only a little amount of research exists that links considerations on the level of economic effectiveness and findings regarding ethics of inequality. Minimal research is conducted on the influence of stratification on the level of development (regarding different factors that mediate the relation). However, the social approach to the former is not taken into consideration. Therefore, a problem the author would like to solve is the question of an association between ethical rules accepted by the members of a society as a determinant of actions regarding inequalities and purposes that dominate in economic practice. The aim is to justify that the character of beliefs in society regarding stratification (that are mirrored in ethical concepts as regards inequalities) has an influence on economic effectiveness. The basis of the author’s conclusions is a review of the literature.
