THE HISTORICAL EVOLUTION OF EARLY BYZANTINE LITURGY IN 6–7 AD

Abstract
At the end of the 6 – early 7 centuries the ideological and symbolic interpre-tations of liturgy and church buildings finalized. The importance of the litur-gy, actions of the clergy acquire some deep symbolic meaning. Icons from 6 AD were involved in a church service in a procession (statzional worship). Decoration of the altar barrier was the second means to include the icon in the liturgical life (future iconostasis). Also imperial ceremonies had an enor-mous impact on the evolution of the Byzantine liturgy – the palace proces-sions, imperial inputs and outputs. Period of 6 – 7 centuries was character-ized by the development hymnography. External, symbolic part of the liturgy was actively developing from 6 AD. Liturgical rite began to develop in the direction of ceremoniality. Process of liturgy clericalization received new impetus.
