The History of School Education in the Polish Countryside over the Centuries

Abstract
The history of Polish schooling, especially countryside education, has been developing for centuries since Mieszko I received Baptism in 966. It lasted for years when the Polish state was ruled by kings, during the difficult period of occupation, through wars and communism to this day. Despite many dramatic events that are presented in this article, this story has never been interrupted. The system of Polish education in the countryside has been shaped all the time, because its condition was influenced by many factors, among others: the need for knowledge, the financial situation of Poland, the quality of transferred knowledge, the number of teachers, but a great role was played by a patriotic attitude that prevented the disappearance of a rural school.
