The impact of mining upon the features of the Blue Lagoon Lake in the Aghireşu area
Journal Title: Aquaculture, Aquarium, Conservation & Legislation - International Journal of the Bioflux Society - Year 2009, Vol 2, Issue 2
Abstract
The substrate of Aghireșu area contains several resources, which in time it was exploited and processed in locality. Among them is the brown coal, the gypsum, the kaolin. The exploitations began in galleries, and then passed to phase of surface quarries. After mining was formed several lakes trough the collapse of the galleries; to them was added the artificial lakes too. The Blue Lagoon Lake is a hydrological unit, the most representative of mixed origin. The water characteristics of the lake are under the influence of mineral composition of the substrate, the activity of mining, the erosion processes, the characteristics of lakes depressions, the climate elements, etc. The water physical and chemical properties are analyzed in space and time scale variation. Sampling and analysis made afford to compare the values in horizontally and vertically plain.

Fatty acid composition of “keli” (Clarias macrocephalus) oil has been shown to contain 18.4% of linoleic acid (LA). Oil was obtained from three types of extraction methods namely Blight & Dryer method, Soxhlet method...
Genetic basis of resistance to stress in fishes. Molecular and classical investigations in a few model organisms
The paper focuses on the recent scientific results from genetics of thermal stress tolerance and discusses about heat shock genes in several model fish organisms, such as: the guppy (Poecilia reticulata), the Antarctic f...
Heavy metal concentrations in two species of fish from the Crisul Negru River, Romania.
The aim of this paper is to establish the potential bioaccumulation of five heavy metals (Cu, Cd, Ni, Co, Zn) in two species of fish from Crisul Negru River (Romania), moderately polluted from a mining area, comparative...
Effects of different levels of coelomic fluid on spermatozoa mobility trait in the Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus).
Effects of coelomic fluid on spermatozoa mobility trait, in sturgeons, have not been known well. This research aims to determine the content of inorganic (magnesium, sodium, potassium and calcium) and organic ions (chole...
