The Impact of the COVID- 19 Pandemic on the Values and Behaviors of Young People in Light of the Current Circumstances

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the impact of the Covid- 19 pandemic on the values and behaviors of young people in light of the current circumstances. The study sample consisted of (70) young men and women, who were selected in a stratified random manner. The descriptive survey method was used in the current research. To achieve the research objectives, a questionnaire was developed, and its validity and reliability were verified. The results showed that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the values and behaviors of young people in light of the economic conditions was high. In light of the social conditions, it was average, and the results of the study showed that there were statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) according to the gender variable in favor of the male category, And the presence of statistically significant differences according to the educational qualification variable, and the absence of statistically significant differences according to the years of experience variable. In light of these results, the study recommended the necessity of paying attention to the youth category as a source of the state’s strength, and working on its development. And preparing it to be able to adapt to future crises, so that it becomes an active element capable of dealing with any crisis that may pass on the economic or social level, In addition to conducting more studies on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the values and behaviors of young people, And what it caused is the change in the value system of society as a whole, and in particular of the youth group.
