The Importance and Opportunities of Autonomous Industrial Policy Management in the Context of European Integration
Journal Title: Acta Economica - Year 2017, Vol 15, Issue 26
Abstract
After a long period in which industrial policy was in a kind of scientific exile, it is once again in the center of interest both to the academic and general public. The last crisis, due to the nature of the causes that led to it, paved the way for the return to the concept of industrial policy in developed countries, significantly changing the angle of observing the effectiveness of its application in stimulating economic growth. Along with this process in developed countries, developing countries, especially those with a failed transition, have faced the need to change the existing growth models. A model based on consumption and import has exhausted its potential from the point of its impact on the current economic trends, while in a longer period of time its unsustainability has become more than obvious. The affirmation of a new model based on investment and export presupposes the necessary process of reindustrialization. In this respect, there is a dilemma in what form and in what way it is possible to apply an industrial policy that would be effected through the renewal of the production base.
