THE INFLUENCE OF CHO ADDITIVES ON THE SURFACE LAYER

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2013, Vol 251, Issue 5

Abstract

The paper presents results of investigations of CHO additives, dissolved in the synthetic oils (PAO4 and Priolube), on the change of composition of the surface layer of the wear scar after the tribological tests under constant load. The analyses were performed using SEM/EDS technique, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. The content of carbon and oxygen in the wear contact region has been higher than outside this region. It can be evidence of the formation of organic compounds during the friction protecting the tribosystem against wear.
