THE INFLUENCE OF LIGHT WITH MODIFIED SPECTRUM ON PHOTOSYNTHETIC INTENSITY
Journal Title: Proceedings of Electrotechnical Institute Prace Instytutu Elektrotechniki - Year 2015, Vol 62, Issue 268
Abstract
In recent years, the use of LED lamps built with diodes emitting narrow spectral range, rapidly grows. One of the main advantages of this technology is the ability to compose lamps of new spectral composition with LEDs of different colors. It is known that various species of plants during evolution adapted themselves to the habitat of differing spectral composition of the light. However, there is little information on the light sources which can be composed with commercially available LEDs and fitted to specific plant species. The experiments were carried out on Clusia multiflora, Pelargonium zonale and Coleus blumei. The study began by assessing the optical properties of a number of plant species. On this basis the light requirements were specified and used to match the spectral illumination. The spectra ware tested using an IRGA gas analyzer and multicolor actinic light fluorometer. Specific spectrum characterized with the highest yield of photosynthesis for each plant species were composed.
