The influence of the fast road on the content of some macro-elements in wood and bark of White mulberry (Morus alba L.)

Abstract

The influence of the Fast Road on the content of some macro-elements in wood and bark of White mulberry (Morus alba L.) Samples for studies were collected from white mulberry tree grown in the close neighborhood of the fast road. 150 mm thick disks were cut off from each part of the trunk. Each disk was a source of bark and wood from pith adjacent heartwood, heartwood and sapwood zones. Contents of following chemical elements were investigated: calcium (Ca), potassium (K) and magnesium (Mg). Results show that environmental pollution originated from the fast road significantly influences examined macro-elements distribution on the cross- and longitudinal section of the trunk and their content in wood and bark.
