THE INFLUENCE OF THE PEDO-CLIMATIC FACTORS OVER THE APPLE FRUIT PRODUCTION
Journal Title: Natural Resources and Sustainable Development - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
The genotypic and phenotypic biodiversity allows choosing the best varieties for commercial or family plantations, which is evidenced by the high productions or by the quality of the obtained fruits. Under the circumstances, determining the valuable features is a permanent activity of the researchers by regional studies performed, considering precise criteria assessed annually or multiannual, in order to obtain correct zoning for five apple varieties (Elstar, Granny Smith, Ionagold, Fuji, Gala), Located in the plains of the North- Western part of the country (S.C.D.P. Bihor),there were made some observations on the behavior of the trees in 2nd and 3rd year from planting, in order to follow the trees vigor (on thick trunk and annual increases), phenophases of fruitfulness, precocity and fruit susceptibility to diseases attack. In the analyzed observations, trees vigor is strongly influenced by the climatic conditions, low rainfall and high temperatures, which increases low trees in the early years after planting. Precocity is considered quite low, judged by the number of open flowers and the degree of fruit, because of the high temperature and lack of rainfalls. Concerning the resistance to diseases stands Granny Smith, which shows resistance to apple scab attack.
