THE INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF ORGANIZATIONAL DISSENT AND WORK ALIENATION ON EMOTIONAL BURNOUT VIA ANFIS MODEL

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of organizational dissent and work alienation on emotional burnout of academicians. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on a sample consisting of 255 employees working in 11 different public universities. The data were analyzed with reliability analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis. Besides, ANFIS model was used to test research hypotheses and it was tried to determine the best model by comparing the results with regression analysis. According to the results, articulated dissent and lateral dissent dimensions of organizational dissent negatively affect powerlessness dimension of work alienation. Likewise, articulated dissent negatively affects meaninglessness and self-estrangement dimensions of work alienation. Lateral dissent, on the other hand, positively affects meaninglessness and self-estrangement dimensions of work alienation. Moreover, all dimensions of work alienation which are powerlessness, meaninglessness and self-estrangement have positive effects on academicians’ emotional burnout.
