Abstract
The article deals with O.Potebnia’s philosophical understanding of the language as a means of knowledge of aesthetic and moral values. The closest connection between the language and thinking is shown, the article reflects that the thought appearing on the mind of a person can be seen with the help of the language. O. Potebnia analyzed the language in a close contact with the culture, as knowledge of reality through art and words. The issue of bilingualism in epistolary heritage is actual, where the main attention is paid to thinking and cognitive activity of individuals. According to O. Potebnia you can see special variations of elements through the language.
