THE LHC AND THE DISCOVERY OF THE HIGGS BOSON:50 YEARS OF HIGGS MECHANISM
Journal Title: Odessa Astronomical Publications - Year 2014, Vol 27, Issue 1
Abstract
We describe briefly the ATLAS detector and some of the physics results on QCD, top physics and. the Higgs boson discovery that lead to the Nobel Prize of Physics in 2013. We finish the short report by a new method to look for extra-dimensions in the universe.

SPECIFICATION OF LIMITS OF POSSIBLE EXISTENCE OF SATELLITES IN THE GRAVITATIONAL FIELD OF PLANETS
It is known that the satellites of the planets may exist in the area, which is bounded on one side by Rocha limit, on the other – Hill sphere. The article deals with the determination of the Rocha limits and Hill sphere...
ZIRCONIUM ABUNDANCES IN THE CENTRAL PART OF THE DSPH FORNAX GALAXY
We derived LTE zirconium abundance in a sample of 81 giant stars in dwarf spheroidal Fornax galaxy. The LTE synthesis was used for this aim. We obtained the lower Zr abundance in Fornax galaxy comparing to the relevant v...
IS THERE 9-TH PLANET IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM?
Brown and Batygin informed on indirect evidence of existence of the ninth planet in Solar System (SS). Some evidence pointing on its possible mass in 10 Earth’s mass; its distance from Sun at perihelion can be ~200AU, at...
THE RELATIVE WAVELENGTH INDEPENDENCE OF IR LAGS IN ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEI: IMPLICATIONS FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE HOT DUST
We show that, contrary to simple predictions, most AGNs show at best only a small increase of lags in the J, H, K, and L bands with increasing wavelength. We suggest that a possible cause of this near simultaneity of the...
HIGH-FREQUENCY CUTOFF IN TYPE III BURSTS
In this article we report about a group of solar bursts with high-frequency cutoff, observed on 19 August of 2012 near 8:23 UT, simultaneously by three different radio telescopes: the Ukrainian decameter radio telescope...
