Bu araştırma Y kuşağı hemşirelik öğrencilerinin mobil telefonları eğitim ve araştırmalarında sıkça kullanmalarının yanı sıra bağımlılık boyutunda kullanımlarının olduğunu da göstermektedir. Teknoloji kullanımı konusunda öğrencilerin bilinçlendirilmesi gerektiği düşünülmektedir. The research was conducted in the fall semester of 2016-2017 academic year with 20 undergraduates who voluntered to participate in this study. The data were collected in 15-30 minutes with a semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers. The data were analysed through qualitative data analysis method. The findings of the study yielded five common (both positive and negative) themes related to the meaning of mobile phones for Y generation nursing students under the headings of dependency, integration, information, socialization/entertainment, and freedom. It was also observed that the participants had both positive and negative themes at the same time. It was also found that the majority of the participants stated to be mobile phone addicts. Together with the changing technology, young people who make the best use of this technology seem to use mobile phones for very different purposes. This research shows that Y generation nursing students use mobile phones frequently for educational and research purposes while it also arises that their use is at addiction level. To this end, it is suggested that nursing students’ awareness is raised about technology use.
