The methods to intensify waste decomposition
Journal Title: Civil and Environmental Engineering Reports - Year 2011, Vol 1, Issue 6
Abstract
Landfilling is still a popular waste disposal method. However, currently it is insufficient practice for effective waste management. Conventional waste disposal leads to pollutant emissions by a long periods of time and requires applying specific emission control and treatment method. Old landfill might require aftercare for decades or centuries. The consequences of this is long –term risks for environment and human health. Currently, the primary task posed for modern landfill management systems is the use of efficient and economic technology of waste treatment and disposal. The paper presents, according data from subject literature, the impact of leachate recirculation and aerobic degradation of waste and mechanical-biological treatment of wastes before their storage on the reduction of pollution emissions from landfills.

BIODETERIORATION DUE TO IMPROPER EXPLOITATION OF EXTERNAL FACADES
Unaesthetic stains and deposits often form on external facades (especially those facing the north) in places where barriers were installed on them. Such places include, for example: fragments of facades in which external...
SEWERAGE AND WASTEWATER TREATMENT IN THE 21ST CENTURY
The sewerage and wastewater treatment facilities should be considered as elements of the same, ho wever complicated, system. The history of sewerage and wastewater treatment systems is somehow imprinted in our minds. We...
THE PROBLEM OF ADAPTING EXISTING RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS IN THE COUNTRY TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF ECOLOGY
The article presents the results of direct research on residential buildings and their modernization in selected ecological farms of the Mazovia region. The research area covered two poviats (counties) in the Mazowieckie...
VISCOELASTIC MATERIAL AS ENERGY DISSIPATER VISCOELASTIC DAMPER FOR BUILDING STRUCTURES TO MITIGATE THE SEISMIC VIBRATION
The supplemental energy dissipation system is a practical approach to attenuate the structural response under extreme loading. Viscoelastic damping used to reinforce the structure against the seismic vibration, Viscoelas...
A STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF OPERATING PARAMETERS ON THE EFFICIENCY OF A MERCURY REMOVAL UNIT FROM NATURAL GAS
In this study, an industrial fixed-bed for mercury adsorption from natural gas, was evaluated by mathematical models. Equilibrium isotherms, kinetics equations, and adsorption models were applied to available data to eva...
