The morphology of a cattle’s dorsal vagal nucleus

Journal Title: Біологія тварин - Year 2014, Vol 16, Issue 4

Abstract

It is known that solitary tract, dorsal and ventral nucleus of the vagus nerve are intrastem components of the vagus nerve. In contradistriction to the nucleus of solitary tract and ventral nucleus, the function of dorsal nucleus was unknown for a long time for reason to the complexity of its structure. Today, at present studied the morphology of the dorsal nucleus only in humans and some species of laboratory animals. Aim of our study was to investigate the specific features of the cattles nucleus vagus dorsalis structures. Material studies were 23 samples of the cattles medulla oblongata from which histological preparations were made with stained by Nissl, by Heidenhain and hematoxylin-eosin. Morphometric parameters were analyzed with program image J. In according to the results of our study, the dorsal nucleus of vagus nerve is one of the most developeds components of the cattles medulla oblongata. It is passing through all the medulla oblongata and determines its caudal border. Cytoarchitectonic, nuclus has two parts: the caudal, wich formed by elipsoidal or ovoid neurons; and cranial, formed by polygonal neurons. Neurons are both parts to the motor type and by Nissls classification are somatohrom-parapiknomorfy. The considerable of the development of the nucleus in this species of animal, connection with the complexity and the massiveness of the digestive system on the whole, and multicam stomach in particular.
