Abstract

At the time of the elections in the country were already two leading political forces that fought for power: the Spanish socialist workers party and the right-wing party national coalition. The centrist forces represented by the Democratic and Social Centre (national party) and Convergence and Union (regional party of Catalonia). the Communists were represented by two political blocks: the Platform of the United left and Communist unity, making it difficult the choice of the citizens. In an election that took place on 22 June 1986, won by the Spanish socialist workers party (44,2%). The Popular Coalition has received the support of 26% of citizens, Democratic and Social Centre was 9,2% of the vote, Convergence and Union – 5% (18 and 8 seats), the United Left – 4,6%, Basque nationalist party – 1,5%.
