THE OCCURANCE AND THE TYPES OF SPRINGS IN REGION WSCHODNIOPOMORSKI

Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2013, Vol 456, Issue 456

Abstract

Springs are important part of water circulatory system in nature and material evidence of groundwater existence. Sometimes their functions are usable because they satisfy people’s needs of drinking water. They are also one of the most valuable natural and landscape objects which demonstrate environmental geo-diversity. Having regard to the values of springs above, we have started systematic hydrogeological research on separated area of Region Wschodniopomorski. There has been made a list of springs by collecting archive materials and field research. It helped to identify springs density and classify them. During initial works, there has been taken knowledge of 328 springs. On elected springs we carried one-year observations which involved cyclical measurements of spring discharge and physic-chemical properties like: pH, temperature, conductance, content of nitrogen compounds. There have been taken samples of water to define comprehensive chemical composition of springs. Analysis of archive materials and results of field research and laboratory analyses enabled estimation of antropogenic risks. In order to organize the information collected it was placed on the “Information Card of natural groundwater’s outflow”, separate for each spring or springs area.
