Journal Title: Записки з українського мовознавства - Year 2014, Vol 0, Issue 21
Abstract
The researching of language contact is one of the most promising areas of modern linguistics. The main attention of Russian and foreign linguists attracted problems which is connected with "switching" and "mixing codes." The phenomenon of language contact is observed in bilinguology and determined by what recipients during the communication components from one language are transforming to other components through linguistic phenomena such as borrowing, tracing, transposition, interference, diffusion, switching codes, mixing codes, etc. But in linguistics are often confused the terms "code switching" and "mixing codes". Motivated and informed transition means switching codes, unwarranted and unconscious - mixing codes. Different approaches of linguists to definite problem show that switching codes is given different statuses speakers, social position, gender orientation, and others. A factor that makes switching codes may be changing role of the speaker. The theme of communication also affects the choice of code. If the speaker can predict and plan some extent the impact of a factor, the PC is on the verge of natural speech flow: at the end of phrases, syntax period, and in the most peaceful terms of communication - after discussion of a particular topic. With a high degree possession of different codes and subcodes when their use is largely automated the process of code switching can not be realized by the speaker, especially in cases where other code (subcodes) is not used fully and fragmentary. For example, speaking one language, one can embed in your language elements of other languages - phraseological units, modal words, interjections, particles, etc. Code switching mechanisms ensure mutual understanding between the people and the relative comfort of the process of verbal communication. Conversely, the inability of the individual to vary their language depending on the communication, commitment to only one code (or subcodes) is seen as an anomaly and may lead to deviations communication. So real culture of verbal communication provides ability of participants of communication to code switching. This mechanism operates in conditions where the speaker can choose the linguistic means of some of their repertoire. In other words, this mechanism uses different versions of linguistic expression communicative intentions of the speaker (options may belong different languages as well as various subsystems of a language). The code switching - is a form of linguistic variation, which is essentiaJ for the normal process of verbal communication.
