Journal Title: Сучасна гастроентерологія - Year 2018, Vol 0, Issue 4
Abstract
Objective — to conduct an analysis of the awareness of the students and tutors regarding gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and to determine the disease prevalence among them with the use of questionnaires. Materials and methods. The pilot study was conducted through the questionnaire of 120 persons aged 18 to 75 years, from the 45.0 % men and 55.0 %. women. The questionnaire consisted of 10 questions, united into three blocks. The international standardized questionnaire GERD Q was used for GERD diagnosis. Results. The correlation has been established between age and degree of GERD awareness (φ* = 1.9 for p = 0.029) and age and inclination to consider GERD as a factor reducing the quality of life (for the elderly respondents at the level p < 0.01 — Zcriterion particles = 3.84 for Zcr = 2.32, for middle age respondents at the level of p < 0.05 (Zcriterion particles = 1.75 for Zcr = 1.64). The use of GERD Q resulted in exposure of 8 respondents (6.7 %) with the score of 8 points or higher. Conclusions. The majority of respondents (83.3 %) were not aware of the gastroesophageal reflux disease, from them 73 % were persons under 40 years old. However, according to the GERD Q questionnaire, almost 7 % of the respondents had gastroesophageal reflux. Only 2/3 of them knew about the presence of the disease and understood the consequences.
