THE POSTERIOR CERVİCAL LATERAL MASS PLATİNG TECHNIOUE
Journal Title: Journal of Turkish Spinal Surgery - Year 1996, Vol 7, Issue 4
Abstract
Ten cases who underwent posterior cervical lateral mass plating were evaluaied. There were 7 males and 3 females with an average age of 37 years (range 16-55 years). Diagnoses were traumatic cen/İcal instabilities İn 6, tubercuiosis İn 3, and neurofibromatosis in 1 case. Five patients had no neuroiogical deficit, 2 hadpartial deficits, and 3 had complete neuroiogical deficits. Combined anterior and posterior fusions were performed in tubercuiosis and neurofibromatosis cases. AO 3.5 mm 13 tubular or reconstruction piates were used for fixatİon. Magerİ technigue is empioyed for screw piacement. There were no eariy post operative complications related to plate-screw fixation. Eight cases could be foiiowed-up more than 6 months with an average of 16 months (range 6-31 months). Soiid fusions were obtaİned and, impiant failures were not observed in these cases. AHpartiai neuroiogic deficits İmproved. Posterior cervical lateral mass plating technique was found to be saf e and efficacious.
