THE PROBLEM OF GENDER EQUALITY IN THE RENAISSANCE

Abstract
Based on the analysis of the theoretical heritage of foreign and domestic thinkers, the article covers the problems of gender equality in the Renaissance. It is emphasized that the origin of the idea of gender equality of this epoch is accepted for consideration in the context of anthropocentrism and how a person interacts with the world. It is revealed that the era destroys the stereotyped model of society destructively, but it does not offer vectors for an equitable social system, therefore hierarchy and patriarchal norms still retain their positions. It is shown that the humanism of the Renaissance contributed to a certain, but insufficient, rehabilitation of the female sex; a man (a man or a woman) can still become equal to another only when he is freedom-loving.
