THE PROVED AUTHORSHIP OF THE UKRAINIAN TRANSLATION OF THE OPERA BY BEDŘICH SMETANA “THE BARTERED BRIDE” AS NEW DISCOVERY

Abstract
The peculiarities of the Ukrainian translation of the comic opera B. Smetana “The Bartered Bride” are investigated as novelties in the musical discourse of Ukraine. The work of I. Mykytenko and B. Petrushevsky as translators of this opera (published 1937) is analyzed. The research proves that M. Rylsky, for ideological reasons to save the opera indicated in 1938 as the translator of Smetana, was as editor and corrector, but not the main translator of this opera. The Czech original and the Ukrainian translation are compared. The proofs by M. Rylsky’s handwriting are deciphered. The comparative, historical, textological methods of analysis are given.
