THE REFLECTIONS OF PERIOD SOCIOLOGY ON TURKISH NOVEL BY THE ROLES OF NARRATOR

Abstract
The role of the narrator is a key element identifying the position of the novelist in the text and the space, style and time perception of the novel.The choice of the novelist over the narrator is important in order to reflect the mental states of the characters on a past, present and future platform. The role of the narrator in the novel is also indicative in the distinction of literature theories. The narrator in Turkish literature has been discussed from ‘hero, witness, Divine and mixed’ perspectives; and recently, with the impacts of Postmodern techniques, it turned into a part of telling element or the fiction and sometimes the object it. All of these indicate that the changes in Turkish novel can be followed from change in the role of the narrator. In this study, the topic, which covers a wide area, will be analyzed according to the classifications in the history of literature, in this article. The general framework to be set regarding the role of the narrator based on the general features of the era will be materialized with examples from novelists representing literature groups.
