The role of documents in information communications of the City authorities in matters of development and defense adjustment of Lviv City during the first half XVII century (on the example archival sources of CSHA of Ukraine in Lviv)

Abstract

This article deals with the document-information communication, which was formed as a result of the activities of Lviv City Magistrate in matters of development and defense adjustment of Lviv City during the first half XVII century. The main criterion of role clarifying of the document is serves the exactly specific content of the document, which is defined by the necessity of public demand realization. The regulative – communication and management functions included the functional essence of document, displaying processes of the city walls and the relationship between the Magistrate and the burgers. Attempts development and defense adjustment of Lviv City during the first half XVII century was studied according to the documents of the City Council. It is established that at the beginning of the XVII century Lviv fortifications since the last reconstruction in the middle of the XVI century has not undergoing the major modifications. Therefore, the Lviv fortifications proceeded to decline gradually due to growing financial problems of the city and relatively peaceful period in the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Common wealth. The most saturated of information are minutes of meetings of the Magistrate. The protocol is fixed the direct language of participants in the conflict. The protocol is reflected of the then samples public speech, which increases the value of the monument. Also, the lustrations and revisions of city fortifications state and their weapons providing and ammunition is an important source based on which is traced the evolution and situation of the defense city construction and combat readiness of its defenders.
