The role of "great idea" in the policy of irredentism

Abstract
The article analyzes the concept of “the Great Idea”, reveals the nature and the components of the “great ideas” of several European countries in which this idea is the most formed and determines their impact on contemporary political processes. It is shown that the idea of “great power” can resume a dominant position in the irredentist ideology. Appeal to it allows inputting the elements of expansionism into a political program.
