The Role of out-Cultic Practices of Christian Churches in the Socio-Cultural Environment of the City

Journal Title: Соціологічні студії - Year 2019, Vol 1, Issue 14

Abstract

The article analyzes peculiarities of noncultural practices of Christian churches and their role and significance in the life of both society as a whole and in a particular city. The study of extracurricular activity becomes of special significance, as it serves to form a favorable socio-psychological climate in society and inter-confessional interaction. Today, the Church seeks to take an active part in social processes. The right to confine itself to cult practices as an instrument of influence on people is insufficient. It is precocity practice that can become a powerful means of renewal of the church, strengthening its positions in society, and will contribute to the formation of new social ties. In order to clarify the peculiarities of the civic orientation of the extracurricular activities of Christian churches, in February 2018, a sociological study was conducted in the city of Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia oblast. The sample consisted of 520 young people in the city. The results of the study showed that 54.4% of young people consider themselves believers. Speaking about the influence of extracurricular practices on the young person, our respondents indicated that they allow themselves to develop, develop, and become an active member of the community. The main reasons for the spread of extracurricular practices, in the opinion of the youth we surveyed, is primarily the desire of the church to carry out charitable and missionary activities, as well as the desire to unite people with common interests who are interested in such activities. The main areas of developing noncultorial practices include youth cultural and educational measures, prevention of harmful habits, assistance, material and moral support to various groups of the population, organization of leisure for children and youth, etc. The development of extracurricular practices suggests that today's church is not a closed system; it is open to the changes taking place in modern Ukrainian society.
