Journal Title: Postępy Nauk Medycznych - Year 2013, Vol 26, Issue 7
Abstract
Lymph node status is the most important prognostic factor in women with vulvar, cervical and endometrial cancer. Local lymphadenectomy is an integral part of the surgical treatment of these diseases. The general applying of the sentinel lymph-node (SLN) concept in the treatment of gynecological malignancies can decrease the scope of the surgical procedures as well as reduce the postoperative morbidity or even can lead to the replacement the surgical procedures by the alternative treatment. Contemporary opinion and facts from clinical trials fucused on sentinel node usefulness in gynecological malignances are presented in this article.
