THE SELECTED DETERMINANTS OF FOOD SECURITY IN COUNTRIES COVERED BY THE OECD STATISTIC

Abstract

The main aim of the article is an attempt to identify the determinants of the food security in countries covered by the OECD statistic. One has used in the study comparative analysis of the examined phenomena and panel models. Despite of the upward trend in agricultural product prices, food security has improved in the surveyed countries. It does`nt mean that these prices have no impact on food security. It is primarily about the purchasing power of consumer income. The strongest stimulus, out of the analyzed variables, was the level of socio-economic development expressed by the HDI index.<br/><br/>
