Journal Title: Volumina Jurassica - Year 2016, Vol 17, Issue 2
Abstract
The global economic crisis has shown that investment in education is also fraught with risk and graduating from university does not guarantee employment or satisfaction with the undertaken work. The analysis of statistical data and literature on the region of Lower Silesia (the labor market, unemployment) shows that the region is characterized by a dynamic development. The attempt to de-fine the characteristics of the labor market in the Lower Silesia indicate that it is segmented, different by geographical and development factors. In this paper indicated the key challenges which students and graduates of universities in Lower Silesia are facing on the post-crisis of labor market. The biggest challenge for unemployed young people to find work which fits to their qualifications. In this article presented also surveys results, which showed that weak point of seeking work people is low knowled-ge about labor market, and concurrency between candidates. As the baked in research young people often work on positions far below their qualifications, or positions not connected with the attended field of studies. This can be a reason to change qualifications to be more accurate in current work-place, or change the job. Understanding the requirements of the local labor market can decide the success of people with higher education who are often unable to properly assess their qualifications.
