THE SIGNIFICANCE OF BASIC DESIGN TRAINING ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF VISUAL LITERACY

Abstract
Visual literacy is generally declared as the semantization of images and the generation of meaning through visual images. Visual literacy emerges simultaneausly out as an significant requirement on the era of which the visual culture dominates. The basic design training includes the principles and elements on the basic unit of visual literacy teaching. Therefore there is a strong interconnection between visual literacy and basic design training. By this study is the interaction between visual literacy and basic design training examined. It results finally the fundamental significance of design training in the development of visual literacy competency.
