THE SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE GREAT<br /> INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS ON THE PROCESS OF MODERNIZATION OF THE HANDBALL GAME

Journal Title: CITIUS ALTIUS FORTIUS - JOURNAL OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORT - Year 2007, Vol 2007, Issue 16

Abstract

The great international competitions (The Olympic Games, The International Championships, The European Championships, etc.) bring the opportunity, to the most powerful teams of the international elite, to confront each other, offer titles of champs, establish hierarchies of values and offer prizes. An entire „army” of specialists of our domain of activity (trainers, doctors, bio-chemists, physicalkinetotherapists, psychologists, statisticians, managers, etc) follow attentively and study the phenomena which stand at the basis of success. The attention of the trainers is, of course, focused on the content of the game as it is. All the elements which stand at the basis of performing a game of quality are subjected to observation: the profile of the players, the forming of the teams, the look of the game in attack and in defense; the tempo of the phases of the game; the physical and psychical requirements, etc. In other words, with the occasion of these competitions, the characteristics and tendencies of development of the handball game worldwide are established.
